I am an idiot and the economy has open my eyes to it

I am a pro photographer and have a site displaying my work. Although there are a lot of nudes on my site it is not porn, but rather art. The site has been around for about 8 years. This is NOT a pay site.

I sell a couple of products on the site a Posing Guide and a Photo Editing DVD. Most of my sales in the past came from a big forum I belonged to and people who heard about me.

The forum kicked me off, because they now sell the same thing as me.

My site has no keywords, and I don't think shows up on google? I would like to start marketing my site, but google adwords and adsense is a no no, because I am considered a "porn" guy.

I think I would like to optimize my site for with "SEO?" But quite honestly not sure what to do???

I would be grateful to hear any suggestions or ideas you may have for me to start marketing my products?

If you care to take a look my site is Pictures4fun.com

    Thank you,
    Jeff Black

    Nice site. :D

You can try to do link exchange with sites in your niche and post your site link with appropriate keywords (in signatures) on forums in your niche. You can also try blog commenting (comment to posts on blogs with your website name included in the appropriate field).

Also, spend some time and browse the forums here.

As soon as someone enters your site and clicks the Enter button, there should be some interesting images, the page right now looks a bit dull.

dude, you are showing bare backside and nipples, of course its going to be considered porn.....

get a separate side, without the edgy photos and sell and promote the dvds and guides on that too, you can keep the edgy site because it has given you business in the past. Its going to be hard to convince someone to link to your current site because as you know, its a penalty to link to "bad sites" aka porn

Well your best shot is to target a keyword and hire a SEO Expert for your site.If your DVD converts that well then you should make your money back in 30 sales or so.

Some really great advice, I appreciate all of you who took the time...to give me some insight. It is a bit of a catch 22, if I lose the sexy women I am sure to lose interest in my site, so selling products may be a mute point  I think I will explore the SEO possibilities. Are any of you SEO specialists? And looking for some side work?

    Dude, consider photo-blogging,
dump the dvd and increase the 'edgy' photo part, use a blog with a proper ajax lightbox plugin, one picture a page, one page a week, so people will want to come back every week (or get an rss-feed) to see what you got this time. Get some proper ads off of one of the networks, make it look elegant.

Yeah, I would say SEOmoz.org is a good place to start. Check out the beginner's guide that zexy mentioned.

To get started, make sure your Title tag contains your main keyword phrases and is limited to 65 characters. Also make sure that each page of your site has a unique Title and Meta Description tag. Next read the beginner's guide on SEOmoz.org.
