I am absolutely FED UP!!!! What do you do when you find your script on a WAREZ site??

I am getting absolutely so fucking sick of this. I put up an advertisement on Digital Point or Site Point for one of my scripts and then find it 2 days later after a few people purchased it on a freaking WAREZ SITE!!!!

The thing is out of the 7 people or so who have bought the script so far, it has to be one of them who has released it to these stupid freeloading jerk off's.

What sort of actions can I take? I know there really isn't a whole lot I can do except contact each and everyone's host who is using it illegally. Which is absolutely ridiculous.

I remember seeing a post a while back by some jerk saying "Well it doesn't hurt BIG companies when we download their products for free." Well I am not A BIG company... I am one individual who is trying to make a living.

When is enough going to be enough? When is this going to be outlawed?

I hate when people hurt the little guy. I don't mind it as much if it is a big company as they can recover.

What script were you selling at the time? This way we can give suggestions on maybe how to block this from happening again.

Well... you can always contact the host of the warez site and complain...

.....you can also try to fight dirty and post their address right here, see if anyone will try to hack them up for ya

I dont even give protection to my scripts. I will be giving it all for free
from now on even if its 200k line code. I love the way it gets leeched.

You can only ask the warez site to take it down and hope that it has not spread yet.

 

Contact their host- complain

Contact domain company-complain

Check rapidshare and similar- if its on them- write a threatening email- they will remove it

Find the site that is listing it and email them and ask for it to be removed- they may get a shock and do so

Update your script with some cool new feature- making old one - old hat now.

See if you can work any sort of license activation into it- won't stop em but will slow them down....

Offer a reward to anyone who will report a stolen script being used- offer a free registred one if it's proven

See if you can get a coder to write your copyright in- in an extremly awkward place to remove etc. Then you can search it via google and complain about any unlicensed useage- challenge a site or two.


As a last resort, Feel flattered.... it was so good - they had to have it!

Had it happen to me- and had a fair bit of success sorting it in the above ways, hope that gives you a few ideas

I am opting to ZEND the files that need protection. I am also going to input a licensing system aswell. Probably iono. Any other ideas for licensing systems??

You know the funny way that I found out about it was that those little buggers didn't code their links, they left them live so it was showing up in my Traffic Statistics for "where they came from" Its kinda funny that way. Glad I caught it in time, for right now I have removed all download links If someone wants it they can purchase it and then I will manually send them it.

if it really bothers you that much use a DDoS and take down their server for an hour, then send an email and threaten longer downtime if they don't remove your file

sorry to hear about this... these warez sucks.... we work hard to make a prorgam and these peoples steal our work just like that... they have no respect for programmers because they are useless without programmers who cant make there own things... believe me or not but in some warez forum a person said he pay his ISP so he have a rights to steal softwares... so for him its like he have a driver lic. so he will go and steal a car... its sad how they steal others work and have it out for free... because of these dirty warez, small companies cant make any money and vanished... there is nothing one can do to stopped them unless govt. starts to take action on those sites and there hosting companies.... but all govt. of any country dont do anything... and because most of the hosting companies of warez sites are from Argentina and places like that so not much a govt. of a other country can do.... so it just never close down....

anyway i think you need to post there names who purchase the script from you so that others can know about them...

 

Dont worry, even the best scripts are hacked...
People who search hacked stuff will never buy your product anyway
