Here is my suggestion....
If you never programed before start with low level programming. Basic stuff to every programming language and paradigm.
Learn basics like data structure, recursion and basic workflow of code.
C is the best start from my point of veiw.

you should 1st decide, Web based apps programming or Desktop apps programming !!
for Web programming, I'd recommend : PHP, Ruby on Rails & Python
for Desktop, I'd recommend : C# or Java !!
