Just keep getting backlinks and wait google to crawl your website itself. Just submit the sitemap once for new website, it's a waste of time keep updating it everyday.

Is it true that updating sitemap for google is unnecessary after submitting once?

No, if your site changes frequently, you need to update it frequently.
    e.g. forum sites...
kakos, go to xml-sitemaps.com and create a sitemap for your site. then go to google create an account and upload your sitemap...
