I've mentioned this to several IT savvy mates of mine and they cannot get over how simply it would be for the big G to implement systems to discount multi/self clicking so that it would be a non-issue. Surely a simple click attack by a competetor couldn't be grounds to loose your account. It seems riduculous to me. I'm a n00b to this game but I'm in for the long haul. Makes me want to really diversify my ad revenue if that's all it takes to lose my adsense account.

Look, the problem is that I got banned by google also. why? because of clicks were more then impressions. Can't say how, who, or why, but...
Heh, I wrote Google, nothing helps actually, nothing. they don't even pay attention.
So, still no way! I think

Yeah- I clicked on one of my own ads again yesterday- after probably 6 "clean" months. Before that I think I did it three times in 6 months. Always an accident (Can't imagine anyone doing it on purpose- it's too risky) - just working too fast, and clicked on the wrong place on my screen... (I was just thinking- I need a break- getting tired. Shoulda listened).

Statcounter.com let's you enter your primary IP and that IP isn't counted as a hit when you visit your site. I love the idea of Google doing that. No charge to the advertiser, no penalty for the adsense account. Click-safe IPs. Would be a big relief for those of us that, no matter how careful we try to be, have still blown it occasionally...

wouldnt that only apply if you have a static ip address as dynamic would keep changing. but yes it is a good idea I dont see them implementing this addon thou.

I can tell you how I think. the impressions are only when the ad has been shown to get more clicks than impressions the page was clicked alot more than the adds were actually show. for eg. page loads.

Opps just thought of something which would make it impossible.

it says the google adds cannot open to a new page but must load from the original page so now I dont know how that would work either as it would be impossible.

That's true- but for a lot of us that would be enough to make it a lot safer, even if not a complete solution. Well, in the mean time- rules are rules. I just gotta stay really careful...

I also clicked for sometimes on my very first id. I was so stupid I clicked in the ad and tried to see the report from there. That was when i have just heard about adsense. But dont worry, very rare click of your own will not be counted as illigal
