hyphens and checking allinurl for banned sites

Ok, I use a small tool I got off the SEOchat forums to check if my link partners are banned. One came up, but it had hyphens in the name, and I remembered that Google removes hyphens from search strings, so I was wondering if this could be why the tool flagged it as banned; does G give accurate results when searching using site: or allinurl: with URLs that contain hyphens?

similarly, does G drop all cached pages when they ban a site? The site in question was lasted cached on the 9th...

    in google, type:
allinurl: <-returns results with the words in the url, eg allinurl:fish will only return results with the word "fish" in them.

site: <-returns rsults for the specified url, eg site:www.fish.com will only return results for the site www.fish.com
