I have just purchased a two word hypenated .com domain name.Do you know if these have a negative effect in search engines etc.?The good thing was that I got both the words I was looking for as the "obvious" domains were regged already. This means I will have both my major keywords in the domain but does the hyphen count for anything?

    AFAIK...

You will not be negatively affected by SEs.

Hyphens in domain names, like many other things in life, have PROS & CONS.

    Good luck,

Indeed, hyphens are fine and can rank up with the best of them, the hyphen doesn't count for anything and it doesn't hinder your SEO work either so your good to go!

More than half of my domains have a hyphen, and most of them rank pretty well ;)

Actually hyphenated domain names have positive effects on search eninge since they treat "hyphens" as separator and consider your name as 2 words.

    Say you have www .toy-shop.com
If someone searches for toy shop, your domain name is more relevant since you contain both words (toy shop) in that sequence.
