I always thought that no "-" domain names were better until I read an article that said Google does not recognize the space in between keywords of a domain name unless there is a "-" or "." there. It reads BananasApples.com as keyword "BananasApples" unless its "Bananas-Apples.com" Is this true?
the value of hyphen domain is jump to the earth comparing the without hyphen. you can use a longer keyword or brandable name if the one you like is not available.
I am http://vikas-gupta.in ; it is a rather new domain though. I am sure i will top soon when 'vikas gupta' is searched in Google. _____________ JNU Holi
domains with hyphen (-) is always best option to choose. just it is easy to remember, It has no search engine impact on choosing such domains.
My understanding is that the hyphen doesn't make any difference to Google. The main advantage of not having hyphens in a domain name is that the no-hyphens version is likely to get more traffic than the same words with hyphens. The reason is that, for example, more people looking for dog food are likely to type in www.dogfood.com than www.dog-food.com.
Yes, this is without hyphen domains are always better. I will not like to have a hyphen in my domain.
My website http://www.free-press-release-center.info has hyphens (obviously) and it has made no difference (either negative or positive) in terms on its ranking on Google. It actually has a good Google ranking for the keywords "free press release" (#6 today) but that is due to incoming links and all the normal SEO stuff. Personally I like hyphens... Gary
As far as the SE's go, as long as you do a decent job with optimization you should be ok with a hyphenated keyword name.
I would use hyphen if i could not get domain name with out it. It is easier to remember domain name with out them so try to get that one first.
no hyphen can somehow make visitors think that it is the 'original' & 'correct' sites. I like to use hyphen when the domain that i wanted been taken. either way, i normally bought hyphen & no hyphens for brand protection and used the non-hyphen one to build the website; the hyphen one will be directed to the 'original' site.
No hyphens although Germans and some Europeans like them. It also depends on the quality of the name. While I'd rather have, say, AutoInsurance.COM, Auto-Insurance.COM is still a valuable name. For a lightly searched term, say Cool-Crafts.COM, I'd keep searching before going for it. I'd only put up with a hyphen if its a really, really good term.
