Hyperlink anchor text/Image Alt text: Same SEO weight?

A client has the opportunity to place their logo at the bottom of someone else site.

My question is, would they be better adding a keyword hyperlink like
    Dog collars by Happy Dogs

Or would the link retain its value if their logo was used with "Dog collars" as image alt text?

So my question is does image alt text carry the same weight as hyperlink anchor text?

    Thanks

I guess its the same weightage given to image alt text link vs. anchor text hyperlink. Even for human visitor purposes, I would go with the image link because it is clearer and much more visible and attractive.
