Hypens & SE

    Hi,

I came across this recently and wanted to pass it on....

Apparently search engines recognize website.com the same as web-site.com

Doesn't really matter where the hypen is located....it could be w-ebsite.com or even webs-ite.com

Think of the possibilities, you could buy multiple words and apply hypens. :)

    Cheers,
    LE

    LeMichelle,
do you have a source to back this up? as mumbai mentioned, most search engines will treat those as two seperate domains.

If this were true don't you think SEO professionals would be all over this now?

I am mystified why you didn't just check this out for yourself. Do a search for yourself.(any term really) You won't see a single broken word domain in the results as you suggested, only full words domains or domains separated by hyphens. Sorry.

Im not sure about this... But im sure SEs know when you mix up two words in a URL. For eg. If the domain is www.domainname.com then SEs knw this is a two word URL. you may get SERPs results for the term domain as well as Name....

Your gonna have to back this up with some references or some sort of proof.
