Hi everyone: I was wondering if it is good to use hyphens in domain names as far as SEO purposes are concerned? Thanks
If your planing to create 2 word domain name, I suggest you get a single keyword.com and create an infinity amount of subdomain like keyword.keyword.com instead of being limited to keywordkeyword.com or keyword-keyword.com because it's more "elegant" and it's more .
If you want to book a domain a its been already booked by someone than it pretty nice to book your domain that of type including hyphen so it will help you in seo as well.
i do notice, maybe its not relevant, but more than one hyphens not indexing, i had lot from 2000 when hyphen domains were hot for seo, none get any traffic, but one hyphen never been problem.. I could be wrong, its just my own speculation, more than one hyphen is not helpful
Its depend on the competition of the keyword you choose, and other keyword rich domain name without hypen optimization. If your competition is low or medium low, and all the com/net/org keyword rich domain name without hypen not optimized well [ at least you don't see them at firs 2 or 3 page search engine, you can go with hypen alternative. I don't know about keyword.keyword.com [ using sub domain ] I'll try this option, and will see the result too. Thanks for share
Search engines are clever to detect keywords with/witout hyphens so its not much helpful for seo now a days. only good contents needed. But from reseller point of view hyphens gets low value.
This has been already discussed thousand times, so why don't you search for those threads to find more insights on this topic.
I've a few hyphenated domains ranking good! If you give it the proper backlink juice then it should rank well
Currently there are only few hypenated domain but I don't think it worth it. For some domainers, I think they dont like hypenated domain.
If the exact match domain name is not available then hyphen domain names are the second best alternative.
