You know what I seem to notice about alot of cb sales letters and pre sells is that they are full of hype. Now I know hype sells but only to that few percentage that get hyped up and really start too belive it. In fact I think the majority of internet users arent idiots and they know when something is being hyped up. Although hype may cause a few too buy but really makes others question... I know the greatest cb products convert at almost 5% off of decent traffic some even 10% off of amazing traffic. But I am sure online stores selling stuff like shirts etc. convert even better with sales. But they dont hype things up. Of course there are promo tactics but not as much hype as some cb products. I think the key online right now is too leave the hype and really try too make a connection with a customer on a deeper level. You have to make them trust as if you are there friend but also make them belive as if your an authority in that field. Like if you look at NCmedia's newest project you can see in the sales letter it isnt very long at all. It trys too show the customer "look here it is im a pro dancer that teach stars how to dance here are my lessons on how to dance like a star and you know Im not offering bs but it will cost you etc" and IT WORKS i mean i know some of you are already interested in it and you had no intention on learning how to dance any time soon. Anyways i think we should try an connect more with the customer and make them feel we want too help not sell to them. What do you think?
Well I guess you hae to hype up a digital product as much as possible, in the end what are you really selling, not warmth or comfort, you're just selling data.
to an extent you are right but really if some one searched "how to jump higher" im sure they dont care if its digital or a real product so long as it makes them jump higher
I dont hype my own ebooks, but i am with the clickbank product im about to launch. everyone else does it and I think affiliate look for a sales page that really pushes a user to buy it right then and there.
I don't think you can compare clickbank with retail stores the way you are doing here. It's really apples & oranges.
obviously you cant compare the products but clickbank products are like guides in digital format. You can also get guides in book form. And like I said above the user doesnt really so long as it does the job its supposed to do. Yes there is hype to all sales letters, and I do understand you must put some in, but I really do think if you make interesting stuff and make it unique and connect with the customer you will do alot better. You will have to add in the hype. The best sales letter I have ever seen do this is the ultimate wealth package sales letter it gave tonns of hype but it also really connected with the user i think that was key to them that they connected. Becasue seriously there are hudreds of other sales letter that say buy from us and make $1000 a day instantly but none have done a well as the ultimate wealth package.
I think you are giving too much respect to your customers. You must realize that most people really are very very stupid.
i think you are wrong. No matter what what that visitor is still human. That is a mistake alot of marketers make that the visitors are nothing more then people with possible credit cards to pay me with. Have you ever herd of frank kern? I look up to him for internet marketing. You see with a list of 9,000 he made $1,000,000 with only one promotion to them! Ofcourse this is over the course almost 1 year but none the less 1 million dollars from a list of 9,000. Now Im sure he did not provide hype to them every single email. Instead he gave them free cool usable stuff. And they bonded with him. he treated them like humans and smart people and so they repaid him. Now obviously he did provide some hype with in his one promotion but it just worked that much better because they had bonded with him and trusted him.
I think the "hype" style of sales letter you see on Clickbank works well, and here's why I think so. Publishers have the freedom to choose any style and format for their sales letters, and if you comb through the marketplace, you'll find that there are definitely a number of products out there that are hype free and very credible to even the savviest shopper(such as http://www.fontgod.com). However, if you take a look at which Clickbank products are MOST successful, you'll find that those products are usually products with the "hype" style pages you are describing. This is also why most sales pages on Clickbank follow the same style (they follow the leaders). Assuming non "hype" style pages were actually more successful as you theorize, those are the type of products you'd see with highest rankings on CB, but that's just not the case. The great thing about CB is that its a meritocracy where the best-converting products gain gravity, and the less convincing products live lonely lives struggling to even be listed in the marketplace. Therefore, the best way to settle what works well and what doesn't work well is to look at the most successful products in the marketplace. I guarantee you if there were a style of sales page that worked better, you'd see it at the top.
now dont get me wrong Im talking about making a deeper connection with that hype. On a level which the user trusts you, I think once you make that connection then sell the hype. This way i think your coversions can sky rocket because along with the hype, you have made the connection for them to be able too trust you.
