One good advice here is get a .co.uk website which is preferred as editors are most active there. If you have .com site submit it to any Regional Category or Sub Category with editors. Since upper category or topical ones will just take forever even though there are editors there.

Example if you live in Pennsylvania just submit your website anywhere it fits and it will just be listed. Don't bother about the guidelines.

If you live in Spain just do the same thing

If I may just try to help the submitter here.

if you do as Popo says, and just ignore the guidelines, here is what will happen:

An editor will take a look at the site, and then move it to the unreviewed area in the category it would actually belong (which is usually the locality of the address of your company, as showing on the website). It will then wait AGAIN for another editor to look at it.

So, if you would like your site to get reviewed a little quicker, just take the time to navigate down to the locality where your business is based (and maybe a topical subcategory of that, like "Business & Economy" if your site represents a business).

That takes one step out of the excruciatingly long time it takes to get a suggestion reviewed.

Great advice. That way editors will spend all of their time moving sites, instead of reviewing and listing them. (and they don't neccessarily do both at the same time)

Moving sites is one of the major jobs that editors end up wasting their time doing.

Advice like that just confirms I was right about becoming an ex editor, what an unneccessary waste of editing time.

This may help as well: DMOZ Site Reviews: Does your website qualify?

But then, they got removed from DMOZ for actually giving hands-on advice...

Set and forget. If you have a site for a category that is asking for an editor then good luck to you.
