I'm curious if any DP members had to flee their home due to this major hurrican coming up in the gulf towards texas. I see quite a few people with Texas locations in their profile. Did anyone have to evacuate? Did anyone actually try to ride the storm out? Lets hear your stories!

Pictures would be great too :D

The storm is still going on and its getting stronger as we speak about it. I think anyone who has evacuated the hurricane will not have internet connections at this time since thats probably their last worry. I am in South Carolina and we already have had a couple showers from Ike so far today. I think they need to open the refineries up again so we can get gas back in the states. Already 2-3 gas stations in my area are closed due to no gas.

Well I used to live in that sunny state of Florida and a lot of people make it sound worse than it really is. Usually is just a lot of rain the wind pushes trees over due to the immense moisture in the ground.

I thought we were going to get some serious play from it a few days ago (Austin) but now it looks like maybe only 40mph winds and < 1" of rain. Heck, 7/10 of our thunderstorms are stronger than that!

Galveston and Houston are going to get hammered though. We used to live there but never had to deal with a storm of that magnitude.

They showed the sea wall in Galveston, the waves were already crashing over it this AM (and it's 18' high). I bet by now 1/2 of downtown Galveston is flooded :(
