http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/arts/4282865.stm One of my personal heroes... John Peel last year, and Mr Thompson this year... Sad times...
No... He was a journalist. He also wrote Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and a number of other excellent reads...
Seriously one of the best journalists to have ever lived. Like I say, one of my personal heroes... Read "The Rum Diary".... Such a good book... His first, although it was only published in '98 (According to the beeb)... I feel so sad
Tops - Surely you have heard of "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" Even if you are a young guy, you would have heard of the movie with Johnny Depp. I definately recommend adding a few of his books to your reading list (when you aren't reading DP posts of course)
Yes, heard of that but not seen/read it. Think my flatmate has it on VHS, might have a look when I can drag myself away from the digital stuff.
Do... Very funny film... Very drug induced also, so if that's not your kind of thing it may not be for you... (Not that it's my kind of thing necessarially)
I liked Blow so if it's Depp stlye like that again + a bit of Vegas (where I went last year) then I'll enjoy it.
Well, if you've seen pirates of the Carrabian(Sp?!?)... the character Depp plays in that is extermley similiar to the one he plays in Fear and Loathing (He actually plays Thompson himself)... Many of the same character traits between the pirate and the Journalist
