Today I had a meeting with my manager at work and a representative from our human resources department. I am being made redundant from my firm next year and I needed clarification on a few matters - hence the meeting.

I am the last one in my firm to leave after the rounds of redundancy - the last in a firm of 30,000 people.

We spoke of my ability to be able to apply for other internal positions that may arise within the company while I am serving my redundancy and also on the possibility of an extension of my end date whilst I am currently working within another team which is heavilly snowed under with work. All important stuff.

The meeting ended after about half an hour and when we were just about to leave the room, the gal from HR asked me...

"I'm sorry... what was your name again."

    HR... pfffffft :D

Its no joke and we're a big company :)

I cant believe that at such an important meeting to discuss my future within or without the company that the HR rep actually asked that question.
