Human readable URLs

Guys,
does it matter if i write my URL

http://xyz.com/tech/some-text-name

instead of

http://xyz.com/tech/dis/id=3

where dis_id(3) is replaced with its actual value.

Would it help in SEO ?????

 

I think it does not matter. Better to pay attention to the anchor texts of your links.

 

Well google does take into considerations the paremeters in the URL while indexing and also generally urls which are human readable are also SEO friendly.

yes this is called seo friendly urls. even cms like joomla has a feature for this

according to the biannual seomoz survey among top seos keywords in the url is not that important, still it's good for usability and it tends to help a bit seo wise so you should do it if you can afford the investment.
