Hulkshare/Nukeshare/Filesonic - Which is Best for my type of Site?

Hi.
I run a free music downloads site, which provides download links via file hosts. The files are no bigger than 105 megabytes most of the time. But, The majority of my files are 3-8 megabytes because they are songs. The larger files are mixtapes or album downloads.

I have been using all types of file hosts, but I can't figure out who to stick with.

Here are the specs for each service per 1,000 downloads...
(All Rates posted are US Rates - Because thats where I am from,
and most of my traffic/downloaders are from the US)

NukeShare rates for 1,000 downloads
0-50mb = ($6)
51-100mb = ($10)

Filesonic rates for 1,000 downloads
1-50 MB = ($7)
51-100 MB = ($10)

Hulkshare is calculated by points
10,000 HulkPoints = $10
1.20 HulkPoints per view

From your experiences or observations, which should I choose?

id go for filesonic - purely because it's a more popular service so you're moer likely to get downloads & premium sales

 

Filesonic, no doubt, hulk paid very little, just $ 1 per 1000, can not be compared.

Bitshare delete files for no reason, even if they state, they will keep files for at least 190 days, avoid.

Easy-share got screwed ranks, even if you are in their top 20, you still wont be on Professional level.

I had a music website too, with 2000 UV daily. I would reccomend you to use Hulkshare if you want your visitors to come back. On Hulkshare visitors can download instantly. And you have to keep your visitors happy, right? I used for a while Filesonic but my traffic dropped with 50% in a matter of days...So i definitely wouldn't recommend it for a music website.

Hey Dope, i like your business plan, it's a sane one, could you add image hosting, and allow the player to play video? Is it possible to make the player support HE AAC V2 encoded audios?

It would be nice and easy to handle all stuff like short linking, file, video, audio and image hosting at the same place.

Check the dopeshare official thread, I've wrote there about the video sharing when you asked about the file size(http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=2223041&page=2).. maybe we will allow the player to play videos but only for small files, not full movies .. don't know for sure yet, I will post there when we will be sure.

Dope, your business plan is well and unusual, most filehost users will have a hard time to understand that it is more profitable and fair, so it's important to spread the word well. To attract more people it'll be wise to have a pay per download option. You can encourage them to test the other model for some of their files, and let them see if its really better for them. Give them the option to switch between plans for their files. They'll get used to the idea in time and spread the word for your.

It's understandable that you want to keep it safe. File hosting companies can get in trouble due to copyright issues when they become well known. Even good willed ones get sued, and have hard times(lately what happened to shareapic.net for examlpe).

You want to go the safe way but at the other hand, unfortunately most file host traffic comes from adult and warez content. Which demands file sizes like 1-2gb's for free and 5-10gb's for paid membership. This sort of ppl. wont be attracted to your site.

Video is another very important issue, it's now the most important medium on the web if you ask me. If you allow video and make it available for social networks, you're business will grow much faster. There are some file hosts like sockshare, putlocker, ovfile, vidbux etc. which has video support and pay per view plan, but they don't let you embed it on facebook etc. Videozer and VideoBB is popular lately and allow you to share videos on facebook, but they shave counts and are untrustworthy.

Long story short, with your current model, you'll have hard times selling your site. To go the safe way and serve legal content you probably should change your concept from scratch. Another option is to follow the grey path that others do, if u know what i mean.

I wanted to share my opinion for your benefit, as a neutral observer.
