Hello all I've just started a new site, you may view it here: http://neodymiummagnets.info. The problem is that after a couple of days, the website started to receive a huge traffic/visitor. See it in the image below: an average visitor uses around 5MB? How is this possible since the site only has a few tens of pages... Anyone has a clue? Thanks for your help!
I cant see anything on the page doing that. http://www.websiteoptimization.com/services/analyze/ 30 visitors looking at 10,000 pages? Its very unlikely that each visitor is looking at 300 pages.
You can talk your hosting firm for this. This is really important badwith problem if you cant solve this problem you can pay much money...
I agree with this. I see no reason why a user would repeatedly view your pages.. it's ridiculous. You may want to see where they come from too as this log is a suspicious one. A hacking attempt? i dunno. I will contact my hosting service provider asap if i were you, especially if your bandwith is limited to somewhere at 20 Gb per month. If you get something like that it could use your bandwith in only small amount of time.
Doing any pages auto refresh (a lot), do you have any manual scripts running that crawl the site? Other than that nothing springs to mind
Thanks for your replies. I won't contact the hosting provider yet, they still have two queries unanswered. They might need some time to work on those. Besides, the traffic lowered to more reasonable levels: There are only 87 page views/unique visitor which is somehow better... the entire site has only up to 50 pages. I'll let you know what happens next.
Hi, it might be a spider that is visiting a lot. I had GigabotSiteSearch on my site that took a lot of bandwidth. Mike
