Huge traffic stat - low Alexa

    Hi,

    One of my websites is getting daily traffic stat of about 10K visitors, yet the Alexa is around 250000.
    Does it make sense to you ? Last two days the traffic was above 12K.

    Probably most of your visitors do not have the alexa toolbar installed. Most of the alexa rank is based on alexa toolbar statistics.

    The visitors of your site may not have Alexa toolbar installed in their browser, the main source of data for Alexa to determine Alexa ranking are their toolbars.

    what they said. also, 10k visitors a day is often all that much higher than 250k alexa - let me check we have a site with around 9k daily and its alexa 123k right now. another site with 12-13k and its 92k. sites around 250k alexa mostly have 3-4k visitors. on the other hand, sometimes you have a tech blog style-site where many repeat visitors with higher education and alexa toolbar go to - and it gets a high alexa even despite a relatively low traffic. we do have another site which is more community-style which is 45k alexa yet also only gets around 16-17k uniques/day.
