Huge traffic spike. What did i do?

Today i noticed that i was getting above normal traffic. So im thinking to myself, you know great but i was thinking it wouldn't last. So i kinda just let it be.

I came back at 2 am in the morning and check my google adsense stats and it says i had already had 100 hits since the new day, im thinking to myself wow this is highly un normal. Usally i would only have like 5-6 clicks by now.

Have i hit something? My advertising of my sites hasn't changed. I introduced a new way of getting traffic to my site a couple days ago(you can get the free ebook on my blog, check sig) (its only 11 days old now) and with that new traffic i've jumped from 50-130 hits a day back and forth usally random but since then ive never changed anything...

Now all of a sudden im getting 100 hits within 2 hours of the new day. What do you guys think happend? I dont know if this effects the hit count but i recently (just today) put ads on my older site (about 3-4 months old) site, wasn't getting alot of hits when i put a stat counter up, mabe 20 hits a day so i dont think thats effecting it.

One more thing. Someone on here submitted my sites to 200 directories about 1-2 days ago so could that be the cause in spike of traffic?

Do you think this traffic will last? I hope it will but does anyone here have a normal explanation for it? mabe because of the submitted directories? is this normal? should i just blow it off and never expect to see these stats again for awhile?

lol im kinda excited but i dont wanna get to excited especially if its just random traffic that is just a one time thing..

can you check referrer stats? Awstats or counter (eg sitemeter)? Always nice to know where it comes from :)

    What niche is it in?

Also I don't think you would get a huge traffic spike from a directory!

Don't you have AwStats? That updates for me like every 15min! That shows the referral traffic!

Most probably it is due to the increase in SERP. This also happen to me last week when one of my site gets to the first page :)

You should check your referral stats to see where all this traffic is coming from.

If want to maintain your traffics in long term, try to built your own list(newsletter/update for your blog).
Since you have quite sum of traffics now,why waste it?
