Huge Spike in Backlinks on Yahoo?

Anyone else notice a big spike in reported backlinks on Yahoo this morning? I noticed a nice increase (most of my sites doubled in #'s) after the update a week or so ago.. But today the increase is almost amazing. I'm curious if this has happened to others.

(I have 6x more pages indexed on one site that I have)

 

What about backlinks? My pages indexed have held fairly steady or increased.. But backlinks have exploded just this morning.

 

I saw an increase of 16,000 backlinks for one of my sites

 

Not sure how much my backlinks jumped but my rankings jumped tremendously.

 

Interesting. No one has really responded other than you.. so it doesn't seem like a glitch just yet. Some of my sites increased by about 5x. One went from 9,500 shown to close to 50,000..

 

Our spike wasn't as large... from 10k to 16k

 

It seems Yahoo has increased its index tremendously. One city plus real estate phrase has gone from what was normally 7 million to 16 million now to over 35 million. I feel this may be the reason for the increased backlinks. More pages indexed so more backlinks showing up.

This happened to me last week as well; the number or links doubled or tripled, and then fell down to its previous level. Today I checked, and the number of BL's is way up again. Go figure

 

What are backlinks and how do you keep track of how many you have?

Sorry, my bad. Backlinks jumped, too, in a second for about 4x (now 800). I still think that is an error. Looks like some arithmetic progression, heh.

 

I have noticed a huge increase in my back links on yahoo as well - not sure how accurate it is though

 

Backlinks are links pointing to your site, from other sites on the web and I use a firefox extension to see how many links the SEs think I have. The extension is called "search status".

 

I showed up with 6000 more Backlinks than 3 days ago which is good.

 

backlinks are basically All the links pointing at a particular web page. Also called inbound links. so the more site pointing to your website the better
your SE ranking would be..hopefully.

 

showing 1.6 million backlinks in yahoo for my site....which i think is not true

 

my backlinks have doubled from 8k to 16k....no difference in rankings though i'd rather have had it the other way

 

now i wonder if we have to wait until the next update for backlinks haha
