Huge Number of Page Impressions Today

I thought I was the only one that had the increased number of page impressions. I guess not. It seems to have disipated though through the afternoon.

 

Yeah it also increased by almost 3x to most of my sites, but no rise in earnings, which is sad

 

Mine Impressions were about double. That would be near a 100% increase.

Page views were normal.

If Google did what you suspected, it's not a wise thing to do without announcing it first.

 

It seems that things are back to normal with my account. The page impressions are way off due to it not calculating correctly this morning, but over the last few hours it has been calculating correctly now. hopefully the glitch has been corrected for good.

If you're displaying multiple ad units on your pages, you may have noticed that your pageviews were higher than normal for part of yesterday and today. Our engineers identified a bug which prevented ad units from detecting other units on the same page. As a result, our system logged a pageview for each ad unit that was loaded on a page, instead of a pageview for each page containing ads. In some cases, this also may have caused specific ads to appear in multiple ad units on the same page.

Please be assured that ad unit impressions were still logged correctly and ads were still displayed on your pages, so you were properly credited for all earnings generated from your ads. We've resolved the issue, and although you won't see the pageview count in your reports retroactively changed, your pageview tracking is now back to normal.

Well I'm glad it wasn't just me and it's an error from Google side because I probably spent half an hour trying to figure out where those extra impressions are coming from and still can't figure out why until I came across this thread.

 

The problem is fixed now, I thought someone is messing with my site.

 

That is what they wrote on their blog but in my case the problem still exists so it looks like they still need some time to fix it. Still have huge number of impressions and extremely low ctr...

Probably bots/spiders. Did your clicks go up along with it?

 

Yeah, number of impressions is OK now, but today's CTR has decreased 100x!!! What's going on? Do you have the same problem?

 

Yes, I too see that the page impressions are even more than 120%. I see that the visitors in Google analytics are the same.
