My proxy has been up for one week now. The first three days started off slow, which is expected, and on the forth day my unique hits jumped up to 90. I was happy and thought if I kept getting this traffic throughout the month I would be happy. What caught me off guard were the last 3 days. I jumped from 90 uniques a day to 500 then to 600 then to 1000. They werent just people visiting the site and leaving either, each visitor averaged 13 page views. The only promoting ive done was submit the proxy to around 15 top sites, visited proxy.org (I didnt even get it put on the list... only looked around and left but im getting 10 uniques a day from proxy.org), and I send out one bulletin a night to my 1300 friend myspace. My referrers list is showing only 1 or 2 hits from the top sites and 10 from proxy.org. Im assuming all the traffic is from myspace and people using the proxy at school. I hope the traffic actually stays coming to the site for a while. I want to start making some money off this. I cant use adsense because they turned the site down because its a proxy. Ive already got adversal on so other than that what are ways of making money? I know I could sell banner and text advertisements to others but I dont want to until I know what kind of visitors ill be keeping.
Good job, this is typical for proxies. Glad you could pull it off. Read up here... http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=1919305
I read that guide and it said to use adsense for revenue. Google turned me down and told me this: Page type: Your website is a type of website that we do not currently accept into our program. Such websites include, but are not limited to, chat sites, sites that drive traffic through cybersquatting, and sites that use excessive keywords in the content or code of their pages. Is it because ive been advertising through myspace bulletins?
Wow, that's bizarre. Maybe they're cracking down on proxies? Why don't you try applying under a different domain?
You could check other top proxy sites to see what kind of ads they use. Then join the same affiliate networks.
try to add some content to your site about proxies and anonymous browsing like I did (see sig). Then Google will definitely allow Adsense. cheers
Yes, if its simply a service site google doesn't usually accept you for it. Try adding some unique content and getting into adsense. In the mean time I would try clickzor, they don't pay as much as adsense but its the best alternative. Ron
Ok, ill work on that tonight guys. Thanks for the help. I dont use excessive keywords on my site... all it is is a homepage with a proxy and some top site links.
Ok I added some content and reapplied to adsense, hope to get accepted. UVs has jumped from 1k to 1400 to 1650 with little extra advertising.
The best way to monetize a proxy site is pop up ads. I use Adversal and I am very sattisfied with them. You can check a review here with my thoughts in that subject
I had adversal up only on the main page and on the proxied page at first and made nothing at all. When I put some content up and more pages and put adversal on them my earnings skyrocketed. I also got accepted to adsense now.
