Huge increase in avg cpc

    Hoping someone can help -

We have a keyword that we have been paying around $0.28 a click (for months). The last two days, the avg cpc jumped to $0.65.

Getting a couple hundred clicks a day, with ctr of 28% (both have been consistent for months). Quality score is still 10.

Any idea/thoughts of what could be causing this would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks

Maybe the competition for that keyword increased. If someone else is bidding $0.65, your cost may increase too, if I understand the system correctly.

Yes, could be new advertisers for the keyword or simply existing ones (sometimes it only takes one) increasing their bid. That's how the system works and you can learn more here.

I wouldn't freak out. This is part of the game with Adwords. Having done PPC for many years I have een this before. It is likely due to a new advertiser who is over-bidding in the interest of getting his CTR up.

My advice? Create another ad or two for that keyword and change the copy to raise your quality score. Just try and raise your CTR. How much you pay will depend on a) the CTR of your ad and b) how much you bid.

    Hope this helps.

seems you are using auto bidding. try to convert to manual bidding to control your Max CPC

The way PPC works is getting expensive and expensive as it goes. I think its time to consider CPA where there is a greater roi on your ad campaign investment. You can check out my ebook. I'm giving it right now for only 7$, which is definitely worth. I'm going to sell the same for 20$ next week.

See this video from Google about Quality score and CPC (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7l0a2PVhPQ).

    It explains a lot.

    Cheers,
