If any of you want to add it to your site, just go ahead. You can edit it as you want, but credit Miles Richardson, milesrichardson / gmail / com.

    Thanks. :)

great guide. It helped me allot.

Did anyone tried in-text Ads (vibrantmedia) on the proxyfied pages? I don't know if it's allowed by the TOC. any help on that subject would be appreciated.

    thanks

Ok try this, log on to orkut.com and then watch your browser after logon. The url entry form will vanish by itself! Then do a view of the source code and you will see there is no ad code left.

There may be some little bugs like that, but it shouldn't be too much of a problem for your users as they probably just want to click around in orkut.

I just implemented the recommendations at webbounce.com

I'll try to report back in a couple of weeks on the results.

Okay. But don't just let it sit there, because I guarantee you that won't work. You have to actively promote it.

And you may want to play with your ad positioning because that 468x60 box (it automatically looks like an ad to users anyway and is therefore poor performing) may act as a border between your square ads, which are the most important.

Good point. It is being promoted...site's been up for 2 weeks and I'm already at about 150 uniques/day. Not enough to really get any clicks but its a start.

Where do you think I should put the image ad? Above the link units & URL form or below the text ad units? Or would you suggest no image ads at all?

Google will automatically decide based on performance whether to put an image ad or text ad, provided you allow them to choose (default option). I would think this is the best.

150 uniques should get you at least SOME clicks, though. Keep messing around, you're on the right track.

How to go about promoting it? Read the guide...

I wouldn't spend more than $150 MAXIMUM on advertising. Stay away from AdWords, I did that and it was a total waste.
