Huge drop in Google Serps on Thursday Night . PM me for the URL: I was in the top 20 for a majority of my keyword phrases then pow. I'm still indexed, but just got slapped down. I think it might be due to site wide links. I did a blog comment on tubemogul.com, now I'm seeing a link on Yahoo for like 50+ other tube mogul pages. Has anyone seen a slap from Google for too many new links in a short amount of time? I've gone from 200 to 797 in two weeks, a lot of which are coming from site wide links. I'm still doing great in yahoo/msn btw. I'm still seeing some Google traffic for really obscure stuff though I have these errors in my Google webmaster tools: Web crawl errors Last updated Dec 12, 2008 Errors for URLs in Sitemaps 91 Details » HTTP errors 0 -- Not found 306 Details » URLs not followed 0 -- URLs restricted by robots.txt 0 -- URLs timed out 0 -- Unreachable URLs 454 Details » Total: 851 Thanks!
Doesn't seem to be a massive amount of links but you are right that too many sitewides can look suspicious. I would say the same for most links that aren't in content to be honest
enote, My site got wrecked by Google Thurs night too, however my number of links hasn't increased much lately so I'm lost as to why Google has responded this way.
Yeah, I'm sure its just a matter of different data centers. The problem should be fixed as soon as they do the "dance'
Greetings - Looks like I'm back up. 500 unique visitors as of 10:30am pacific. I added breadcrumbs to improve my internal linking.
mine dropped last night, this has happened before but hopefully it goes back im losin money while they dance
PM me the url please, I want to check it out! My blog also got kicked down from about 5-10 to about 25-30 on Saturday Night
mine had no recovery, im pretty sure I got google slapped. Permanently. I didn't do that many submissions or links, not like the thousands I've seen other people do, I don't understand what happened.
On thursday night, my site also got kicked down from 12ish to 30ish on my two main keywords. All other keywords seem to be the same and yahoo and msn have been steadily improving. I've made a string of SEO related changes recently so maybe google didn't like one of them. I thought I was improving things though. I hope it's temporary. I'm kind of new at this- for others who have seen their SERP positions slowly creep up and then suddenly drop a couple of pages: Is the drop often temporary?
Don't be surprise because this is just a normal thing on the SERP game. Other webmaster must have been working very hard on some particular keywords.
One problem with sitewide links is when Google detects it, they discount them and you drop in the SERPs.
