HUGE Discrepency Between Clickbank and Yahoo Conversion Tracking

I've been promoting a new product for the last week and have been getting decent conversions. Problem is, Clickbank shows 9 sales while Yahoo 31 conversions and 16 assists!

First of all, I don't know what assists even are.

Second, any ideas on why there is such a huge discrepency between yahoo and CB?

I've seen things the other way around, like my sales would show up in CB but not in my PPC conversion tracking but this is such a huge difference I can't think it's just one or two sales dropping through the cracks.

As a publisher, I've seen sales occasionally drop the affiliate ID so the as a pub I would get 100% of the commission but nothing like this. In this case, the pub would see over 2/3 of the sales coming through without an affiliate id.

Anyone ever seen anything like this. Could it just be yahoo's tracking is seriously screwed up or is it CB?

    Thanks,

    Scotty

Don't have any experience with Yahoo Tracking, the number difference is huge. Yahoo Tracking might be innacurate?

I guess the way to check this, is to use another tracking system along side Yahoo Tracking, if the other tracking system shows the same number difference, than there might be something wrong.

    Thanks for the reply Ripped.

Doing a little more investigation, I think it's Yahoo as MSN and Google seem to be more accurate. I will set up another tracking system to check thought

I believe that most PPC conversion trackers would show higher numbers than actual conversion count. One of the reasons is users hitting refresh on the thank you page and conversion pixel being hit twice, etc...
