Attack of 300GBPs. Huge and aimed at SpamHaus (20 DC's globally)! It effected many users globally. I definitely saw slower internet speeds when connecting to servers located in Europe. Has anyone else noticed the effect of such a clog on the WorldWide network? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-21954636
This is actually only now starting to hit major news agencies. If you are active in the hosting industry, you would have been notified of this fairly quickly. Some good articles: http://arstechnica.com/information-...rstechnica/index+(Ars+Technica+-+All+content) http://blog.cloudflare.com/the-ddos-that-almost-broke-the-internet
Im sorry but that really does have to suck. Just gonna leave this here: http://www.speedtest.net/result/2612173085.png Thats with netflix in another browser as well as a ftp session uploading files. I generally have 70 mbps.
They said that this could worst case scenario turn off the internet and has already slowed it down? I don't understand how this is possible. Apparently they could hit the internet's DNS, but I didn't know the internet had its own DNS considering its meant to be an interconnected network of networks, the Mesh topology links networks via their own DNS so unless they targeted ISPs I don't understand how this would have a major impact on anybody other than the ISP that SpamHaus is with.
