Huge Auction on Ebay

Discussion in 'Domains' started by ChrisB72, Jul 20, 2007.

I listed a ton of parked PPC domains including 3 money making sites and wondered what you thought I could expect to get. I have a number in mind that is about $10k do you think Im over shooting on expectations? I dont think I would let everything go for less than that. My investigator site listed made 6k alone last year. Let me know what you think. And maybe some of you guys could help me out to get the bidding started. Thanks a lot

If your not going to sell for anything less than what you "have in mind", you better put up a reserve. Otherwise, prepare to receive negative feedback from a winner and lose trust on these forums.

I would like to get 10-12k for the auction seeing that is the money I made off the names parked and the investigator directory last year. It has nothing to do with the value of any of the domain names, its basically like throwing in 100 names for nothing.

    For instance:

DerbyMagazine.com is the name of the Kentucky Derby Magazine it has to be worth 2-5k

50kw.com - 50kw is the motor that these hybrid electric cars that will soon be staples on the market have in them.

    FilmandMovies.com - Appraised at $10,500

    I was recently offered $900 for NFLSpace.com and NFLSounds.com

Superbowl50.com will be the biggest superbowl ever and I have it registered for 10 years.

    Eukanuba.net - Recently offered $1200 for it

    Lazer.org - Appraised for $21,500

So I mean these are not weak names and the price Im looking for is mearly what I made last year on parking for a few names and website income. And I made the investigator directory info mostly on people visiting the site before it was even ranked. I have tried numerous times to try and get someone to sell ads by calling around, offering up to 30% and nobody is interested. Yet I can sit and call 10 numbers and get 5 people to sign up. Its easy money.

Theres roughly 1,000 private investigators in every state. If 1% or 10 of them signed up for a $40 annual ad, thats just 10 out of 1000, that would be $400 per state x 50 states = $20,000 per year. Now if ten percent of those 500 signups took a featured ad $150 x 50 = Additional $5500. Plus ads and Nationwide Ad another $7500. Without even trying you make $33k per year.

For which? I put up the parking stats and can pull the whole year if you like. If youre referring to InvestigatorZone.com I would have to pull my merchant records because all the signups paid via CC and the new owner will need to setup a merchant system to take CC.

You'll be lucky to get $1K for those domains, much less $12K. If you are serious about selling your domains, sell them one at a time at afternic, sedo, or sitepoint. You ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT get $12K for them all as a bundle, ESPECIALLY on Ebay. Sorry.

These estimates are probably not the way to go. I do this all the time and get disappointed every time.
I have a PR5 directory, if I could get 1000 people to pay $1/month for a link, I'll get $1000/month...and guess what, nobody want to pay $1/month for a PR5 link.
So, few people will pay what we think...

Im dealing with a direct field though and not a directory that caters to eveyone, its already started, and I am not dissapointed trust me. In the first year the site has made almost 7k. I will keep it going and find someone to market it if it doesnt sell which I could really care less if it did or not. Its one of those deals that if it did, fine. If not, oh well. Trust me this is not a turnkey directory for plumbers and pet supplies.
