Long before he started rising in the polls, I latched onto Huckabee as my preferred candidate. I like Romney, Guiliani and most of the others, except for one. A new report shows some startling movement in the Huckabee campaign. Now, if you are used to see gold fall from money trees and beer raining from the skies when RP farts at a Jewish bistro, this one will really impress you! http://www.rasmussenreports.com/pub...idential_election/iowa/republican_iowa_caucus America always amazes me! Kind of a shame that all the "smear" campaigns have started, but when the cream rises to the top, it's to be expected. Excellent job, Mike! I hope my donations have helped
Good job Mike! It's important to do well in Iowa to build momentum. I think Huck has benefited from the attacks by the other front runners, articles like this one today, http://www.guardian.co.uk/worldlatest/story/0,,-7109608,00.html Of course, as I've said before, Huck doesn't have any support in larger delegate states like West Virginia, with delegate applications closing Friday, he stands little chance of winning that state (and many others). You really need to raise a lot of money in the convention system, in order to build a delegate infrastructure. Should be an interesting Republican National Convention with lots of deal making for power positions.
I'm not a fan of Huckabee, but well done! Especially impressive in light of Romney dropping his riches in Iowa trying to buy a win.
It's similar to what John Edwards has done in Iowa which is spend a lot of time there and gain popularity in hopes of a win will help propel you to the front.
What is this thing about abolishing IRS and Homeland security? Is he trying to follow in Ron Paul's steps?
He's ripped off a lot of Ron's platform, the biggest exception being foreign policy, of which he doesn't actually have one.
I was disappointed Ron Paul responded with DOE(ducation), DHS, and DOE(nergy) as his three programs. He should have substituted one of those with the IRS, because it was an easy point that as you said, Huckabee took for himself to push his FairTax, which is a half-way substitute for real reform.
Huckabee wouldn't repeal the 16th Amendment though. Without a repeal of the 16th Amendment, we could easily end up with both an income tax and a Fair Tax. The reasons I am opposed to a Fair Tax is that this is the world's largest economy, and it is untested, and would hit the poor first because they have a lower marginal tax rate than the proposed Fair Tax rate.
With the videos surfacing of Huckabee begging his state congress for any new taxes, I wouldn't be surprised if he's salivating over the prospect of both.
If you look at Huckabee's record in Arkansas, he's a lot closer to the Clintons than he is to the Bushes.
I also like Huckabee....loved some of the answers he gave last night...and I think he will do well, especially if he keeps distancing himself from his record in Arkansas.
do you really know anything about the fairtax? The fairtax doesn't hit anyone, and furthermore, there are refund checks every month based on your income level. Those that are in the poverty stages would get the most back, thereby making it more fair to them and less fair to the rich. Furthermore, all those illegals that send our money back to mexico without paying taxes would then be paying taxes, keeping more money here in the US and adding more to the economy.
Huckabee has been doing really well lately seems like the big media outlets have been pushing him, but he seems like he will only end up as Giuliani's VP in the end. He has a good platform, not much different from any other Republican in the race though.
Yes. On the contrary, it hits EVERYONE. Refund checks are merely another form of welfare. Sounds like communism to me. Since when did America punish the rich for being rich? Anyone who wants a FairTax and expects to keep illegals here, or amnesty, is not going to win the Republican nomination. Believe it. Immigration is the hottest issue with the GOP base, not war or taxes. Huck should have been grilled for the "All God's Children bit." It's not his country to give away.
