If you're familar with Squidoo then HubPages is not that much different in the way you use it.

At Squidoo you have a "lens" whereas at HubPages you have a "hub".

Instead of "modules" you use "capsules".

Its "hubscore" not "lensrank". Though the way they function is different. Instead of ranking from 1 through to 150,000+ (however many articles are in the Squidoo database) it ranks the hub as a score out of 100. That's about all I can explain about it, because the algorithm is of course a secret and I'm yet to (and will probably never) figure out what influences it.

Instead of getting a small cut of the Adsense revenue that Squidoo first deducts operating costs, gives a percentage to charity and then divides up the rest between the Lensmaster co-op, you get 60% of the page views.

The same goes with Amazon and Ebay modules/capsules. You don't split the profits, you get 60% of the pageviews. So if someone makes a purchase when it's your pageview, you get 100% of the commission.

The real difference will be the Adsense revenue. You'll make more from Adsense on Hubpages then you will with Squidoo. One of my better performing lenses only made 20 cents in Adsense revenue not for a day, but the WHOLE MONTH. And it's like that across the board.

I've written How Hub Works as a general overview.

And when it's time to start using it: How To Hub

The interesting thing about Hubpages is if you don't have an Adsense account it's very easy to get one. Even before you start to publish your pages (but after you've registered at Hubpages) you can get instant Adsense account approval.

And of course Hubpages is free.
