Hey all, I was just wondering if there is any difference between the three url beginnings for submitting links and setting up a whole internet marketing campaign. I have noticed many people are just using http://domainname for linking, is this any better for marketing. Thanks!
Really, I didn't think it mattered. I had a wordpress blog that was showing up without the www. and I changed the settings to have the www. and google picked up on it and I my SERPs didn't change for better or worse. I'll have to look into this some more. Thanks
I think it's opposite. WWW version is better. Whichever you pick be consistent when linking. Use .htaccess file to point all other versions. I always use... http://www.domain.com/ Including the trailing slash. All other variations without www or the index.php or without the trailing slash are all 301 redirected to the one above in the .htacess file.
I use www. But, it would stand to reason that if you omitted the www than you could cram maybe a few more keywords into your URL before some sites truncate the address. (I think YouTube is one example of doing this in the video's description.) So, theoretically, there's one reason to omit the www from your address, but its just not a big enough deal for me to change everything just because of this one small detail.
