Hi, My site is new and I have noticed that Google has found it lately. But, when I look for http://www.swingersblogs.net google cannot find it only when I look for www.swingersblogs.net Google finds it. Is this ok or should I change something so Google will find it's complete URL with the http.? Does it mean that my site is now in the sand box? Regards, Juli
I will be least bothered about that. Once google index your site, you must be bothered about your SERPs for competitive keywords. If someone know your full URL, they wont type it in google search!
I don't think it is a problem, basically when you try http:// google is probably splits it and http is simply becoming another part of the search phrase and I don't think optimizing for http would benefit you in any way. I checked couple of my sites and they are returned with both searches "www.xxx.com" and "http://www.xxx.com", but if I were you I would not be concerned.... Keep focusing on backlinks and content.
google basically ignores http:// when you do a request. For google, you can easily search for links to a website using link:http://www.abcsite.com or link:www.abcsite.com . Both will work as Google ognores http:// With search engines like Yahoo!, you have to use http:// with the commands.
Or maybe you are simply dropping a link onto a busy webmaster forum, what with your one post and all? Good idea for a site, mind you.
According to the (in)famous AOL statistics, more than 10% of the search queries for some sites are the URL of the site. These visitors ignore they could use the address bar of their browser. According to Google documentation, a search for the URL should return the same information as the info: query. This is not true anymore. A query for http://www.example.com/ returns pages including the phrase "http www example com" and a query for www.example.com returns pages including the phrase "www example com". In some cases, the first search results do not even include the site with the domain the user typed in. Jean-Luc
This is perfectly fine. I wouldnt worry about this. everything will be indexed as time passes. But, make sure while you promote your site, that you promote it for anyone formation of your url. That is, either http://www.swingersblogs.net or www.swingersblogs.net . You must also know that Google considers www.swingersblogs.net and swingersblogs.net (w/o 'www') as 2 different URLs, and so its possible that u get a different PR and SERPs for both. So its alwayz better to promote only one formation. using htaccess could solve your problems.
