Hi, Just set up a new website. Before I uploaded anything to the domain google indexed the homepage url. Unfortunately it comes up like this: Index of / Index of / .ftpquota · cgi-bin/. Apache/2.2.11 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.11 OpenSSL/0.9.8i DAV/2 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 My webmaster tools says there are 2 HTTP errors: http://www.mysite.com/.ftpquota 403 error Oct 3, 2009 http://www.mysite.com/cgi-bin/ 403 error Oct 3, 2009 This was cached on 3rd October. I have since uploaded the website, put error pages in place for both 403 and 404 errors, submitted a sitemap and waited. Got links to the site but still no change in the index. Should I just wait or do I need to do something? If I need to take action what do I need to do?
Unfortunately, there is nothing yo could do except waiting patiently. You should focus on other things in order to improve your website now, and Google will update its index when time comes
Actually there is nothign you can do period. I have had 2 404 errors for the past 6 months because i posted a question about a problem with the blog (and the link was there) Actually.. i think even think it was a linked link... (interesing.. is google using un linked links in their algorithm too?)
