It has been a while since I've updated the website and it's this time of the year again... I'm updating http://cb-analytics.com/ I'm not planning anything disruptive this time. I'm going to leave the website look and feel intact and focus on optimizing website for speed. With 2.5 years of clickbank stats, some pages have gotten pretty slow to load - I intend to fix that. I'm also going to add a few unique product metrics that may turn out to be quite interesting. However I'm open (as always) to suggestions on how to make website better and easier to use. Spill your mind here - all ideas are welcome!
karabas, your site is great. I use it everyday. One thing you could change is the graphics. (make it web 2.0)
Great Site! I visit it every day. Great functionality, and I agree with the poster above, only thing you could do is revamp the graphics a bit make it a bit smoother in web 2.0 style. BTW, are you going to have a "Clickbank hall of fame" for last year, where you list the products which had the most gravity in 2009, I know you did that for 2008.
Brilliant site karabas, glad to see you're updating I noticed the other day that some of the category pages don't work at all. For example: http://cb-analytics.com/category.php?name=|Spirituality,+New+Age+&+Alternative+Beliefs Other ideas: how about pulling the vendor spotlight into the site? It would be nice to see the search improved too - currently I think you've just got a wildcard match ("LIKE %{$keyword}%" or something similar).. how about negative keywords and the option for exact matches with quotes for example, "more energy" -solar
I love the site too, I have a few suggestions: - I think your gravity graph image doesn't go back that far - or not as far as cbengine.com - I would use your site a lot more, but this just keeps taking me back to engine to check the full history, or at least 2 years of gravity for a product. - don't really mind about the graphics personally, but I do agree it would help you overall. - more blogging / articles: your opinions, interviews with affiliates, vendors, tips, advice... bit more of a community... something that just gives out value so that people come back every Friday or whenever they know your next post is. - advertising / placement for vendors, personal reviews, recommendations.. I would be interested Keep up the good work though, great site you have, like it a lot! Dan
submp3, You can change time scale on all of the graphs by hovering over gray "*" symbol on top of the gravity graph. See screenshot. I'm actually considering adding a forum but I don't want to make yet another Clickbank forum. I'm searching for an idea to make it stand out. I've been contacted several times about advertising on the website and mostly these has been "get rich quick" scam type eBooks. I have no doubt that there is money to be made on these products for vendors and me as affiliate but I have this idealistic notion about cb-analytics.com being about useful data and I don't want to go this low to make a few quick bucks. If I started advertising these kind of products it may hurt the website in the long run and I definitely wouldn't feel as good about it. TigerPublishing, Thanks for letting me know - I wasn't aware of this Category problem - will look into fixing it. I didn't implement advanced search because normally there are not that many results so that it would be useful. Seaching for "more engergy" in your example yields only 15 results. If operators were implemented there would only be 2. Search operators is something I definitely have in mind but it's not high on the feature list. As for changing the UI - last time I did it many old-timers hated it. And I perfectly understand it. Once you use something for years and suddenly it changes - you don't work as efficiently anymore and so you hate it.
Oh, thanks, I didn't know about the gray * With the advertising I meant more to advertise a "featured clickbank vendor" - of the week / month rather than product / make money online guide advertisin. You retain ultimate control over who you feature so can pick and choose who to allow on still, but currently there is a 2+ YEAR wait to advertise on either the clickbank marketplace main page, the search results pages, or the account login page. These slots cost approx $2k a month - they are full for the next 2 years apparantly, and if you look round the individual cateogories there are plenty of vendors advertising in there too - us included, and even these slots costs between $200-500 per month depending on popularity / traffic. The demand is there.. We would be interested in this - especially if you offered features such as exposure on the homepage, a page on your site which gives an extended advert / review - program features, conversion screenshots.. a message from the vendor, exposure on categories, and all individual listings too. I know we would be very interested in something like this if you were to offer it - keep me in mind but don't let people block book years in advance or stay there forever like clickbank are doing, inflate your price if you have to if this happens Oh, one other suggestion I would have would be to make the "Top Gravity Gain" update less frequently - I think it is every day currently, and I think this can just be a little random and might be more accurate if you just displayed the stats from one WEEK to the next... this is just my preference though so don't know if I represent the majority here or not, but again, I go to CBE to see their gravity graphs because of this.
Not sure if your site has this already, but I would like to see something where people can list their products before they launch. For example, if I'm making a product and I know it's going to be released in 2 weeks, I could go on your site and list it for affiliates to jump on board early. This way affiliates can start getting everything ready and get some sites and articles built up so that when the product actually launches, they can make a good amount of commission off the bat. I think that would benefit both vendors and affiliates a lot.
That's the purpose of his site... He's listing/ updating pretty much all products in the Marketplace. There's affiliate directories to list your product on, some paid - some free. Al.
I know what the site does. I'm just saying there's no sites I know of out there that have a feature specifically for product launches that are upcoming. CB-analytics posts info on products that are already in the Marketplace. Something similar to JV Notify Pro but for CB products instead would be cool.
There is one UI feature that I specifically want feedback on: do you find hover/popup elements helpful or distractive? Specifically: 1) box with search parameters that pops up when you hover over the search box 2) hoplink box that pops up when you hover over product URL on the product information page.
I like the idea in number 2. Pretty simple and helpful at the same time. Also as previously stated, I think that a more modern look would really set you off! Go for a sleeker style. Leave everything in the exact same position just change the look to a more modern feel. Just my opinion.
Both hover overs took me a while to get used to. I don't use the hoplink one at all really. The search one is much better (althought MSN SEO bit is cut off the bottom in Chrome), but maybe you could have an extra little button that says "Go Advanced" before you show it. Might not be so intrusive then.
