HTML5 will be the core of Internet Explorer 9. But what's the role dose it play in IE 9. And is this technology will be benefit for Internet Explorer 9?
It's just part of MS's moves to actually make a browser that works. As HTML5 is the next standard, they'd be shooting themselves in the foot (feet, even) if they didn't make their browser compatible with it.
there are a bunch of online systems you can't use if you insist on IE, whatever the version, because it's getting harder and harder to cope with their terrible document model. Add to that the fact that it's a virus magnet, allows drive by download adware / spyware installations, encourages trojans and keyloggers, and you have to ask yourself why the hey am I using this piece of junk?
Does it benefit themselves more than it benefits the web and its users? Typical Microsoft question. ALL the other browsers support HTML5 today yet IE won't support any of it for another year or more. It's best to support browsers that best support YOU and IE is never that browser.
