    always code html by hand stay away from WYSIWG software like dreamweaver...

    W3Schools is a great place to start learning the basics. Also, if you're looking to setup your own website then it may be worth checking out the link in my signature space.

    W3Schools is one of the best ways to learn it. But in my opinion it is easier to watch someone teaching you. You can go to Youtube and find some video tutorials.
