Are we talking about static html. If so you can't compare this vs dynamic "CMS".

I agree, wordpress is great and if you dont wanna spend money just get a free account on service like http://broadkast.me/ or wordpress.com
broadKast.me is free for everything and wordpress.com will charge you if you wanna have your own domain name.

Since you're going to update content, I'd say go wordpress. plain old HTML is for static content.

You'll probably want lots of pages. HTML is okay if you have one - three pages of who you are, what you do etc... However, when you get into more than that - you need to keep in mind that you are manually changing the files everytime you update. So a CMS sounds like your best bet. Content is generated dynamically, and you can typically make changes through a user interface admin section. All the best!

No, HTML is suitable for small web site. Large portal like what you planned to do, a dynamic CMS will be ideal. Well I suggest Drupal.

Wordpress here. It is highly customizable and easy to maintain through its front end.

Wordpress would be a lot more flexible then a static htmol site. There is no real comparison - when you want to start adding content, changing the themes, - a database driven site like wordpress is the only option.

html sites are "ok" if you only have 5 or 10 pages. But if you want something that is flexible, go with wordpress.
