Here is what I have learned so far from a thread the could easily have been answered "yes, htm and html are equal unless the server is set to treat them differently":

    1. Htm is better simply because it creates lighter pages.

    2. C is better than C++. I highly doubt this.

    3. Bill gates is human afterall. This is evident in the fact that he can be wrong at times (referring to 10MB harddrive capacity being enough for a lifetime).

    4. Pussies do exist who still use WYSIWYG for web development.

    5. These same pussies care not about web standards. It figures!

    6. Open source is necessary to keep the makers of proprietary applications in check as far as quality and price.

    7. This is a pointless debate.

And, here is my own contribution on what a real programmer is...

A real programmer codes in binary (machine language) with Notepad (no syntax hilighting). All others are pussies! ;)

Hi, my name is nOOb_user, and i am a seasoned programmer with much more experience than any of you. My hobbies include long walks on the beach at sunset, drinking pina coladas, resurrecting pointless, arbitrary threads, making broad, sweeping, and generally hurtful generalizations about other people, and using the word "pussy" as often as possible.

Vectorgraphx, I think the post from Jules Manson was intended as a tongue-in-cheek comment on what was a very dumb thread to begin with, and on similar pointless debates about "A is better than B".

    War assembler!

you may be right. seemed a bit off-color to me though. Jules, if this is the case - my apologies. its probably better to give you the benefit of the doubt - though calling wysiwyg users "pussies" is probably going to get under someone's skin eventually, tongue in cheek or not :D

I think his final sentence tells us it's meant as humorous:

As minstrel stated, yes this was a "tongue in cheek" comment on how long this thread has become for a very simple query that could have been answered with a simple one-line statement. This is especially evident in the statement that I made about only real programmers coding in binary. It was a ridiculous statement intentionally created to show that I wasn't being serious when I called any of you good people the p-word. If anyone was offended by my humor they have other more pressing issues to deal with that are beyond the subject matter of this thread. Or are they? :)

What parent's in their right mind would name their children that? His parents must have been 60's free-love hippies who were high on LSD when they named him that. :p

You guys are too picky. There are always several ways to get the same thing done.
