I learned from http://www.w3schools.com/ and PRACTICE. The best way in my opinion to learn HTML, or any other languages, is to practice. I would suggest downloading Notepad++ (http://notepad-plus-plus.org/download/v6.4.5.html) and start writing simple code once you learn some basics.
I learned HTML completely form http://www.w3schools.com/ and blog.joomla-developers. These sites are giving very easy ways for how to learn HTML quickly.
There are many ways to learn HTML but best way is to learn from Internet. w3schools.com and html.net are the best website to learn HTML. They have described all things descriptively and also used simple language so you can understand easily.
You can watch videos from lynda and open your notepad to test everything. This helps you to know or memorize the codes you are learning
I agree with the posts above, I used W3schools.com when I was 13 back in the day, using Tables, now everything is advanced and you can learn straight into divs. You can't go wrong on that site.
Go to youtube and type in "Lynda Tutorials HTML". You'll find extensive tutorials on markup languages and programming languages.
W3Schools is good. THey're still developing HTML 5/CSS3. Tizag.com is good too. Also, KhanAcademy.com.
Codeacademy is a fun interactive way to ensure you don't get bored, but otherwise yeah W3 schools are the best.
