.HTM setup help...sorry to start new thread.

I have read the previous thread on this topic a hundred times. I followed the instructions, and was never successful in displaying anything. I did not, however, ever receive any type of error. When I first joined up I messed all my pages up, changing them to php and then relinking them, and then changing them back again. I want to keep them .htm now, I know it's possible! What am I missing?

Another question I have is, when I signed up I was told to make the ad_network.php file, but it had a number attached to the end of it, and in the forum thread the instructions were without a number. Maybe it's common sense, and it's a referral number of some sort for each member, but I cant find the answer anywhere.

I know this is a tired subject, but I have come to realize that you guys are far more advanced than I am. I don't even have an email submit form on my site, because I have no clue how to excute one.

Could someone help a girl out? lol Or, tell me to get lost. Ill just move on if I can't get it to work. This stuff doesnt really stress me out. Its not like breaking a nail.

here's a link to my homepage, but I never added any code to it. A couple of people asked for the person's url that they were trying to help.

I'm an astrolger, not a web programmer. lol

    Thanks.

Does your support both mod_rewrite (via .htaccess) and PHP?

Yes, it does. But, now I think they might be doing maintenance otherwise is it possible that from constantly screwing with that .htaccess file I made it so that no page shows. lol My server supports all those thingsyou metioned. Im a bit out of my element I think. I had never even worked with php until now.

Ok they were doing some kind maintenance so it wasnt my doing. Anyway, yes my server supports all of those things. I would be over it, except for the fact that I really need this co op thing to work. I am having a hard time getting traffic.

    Hey! Im in Newport lol
Your a Virgo, no wonder your so good at this stuff. lol

Can you test your .htaccess ability with something else? Just a simple redirect or something?

Uhhh Shawn, I have no idea what you mean by that. It might be too much to try to help me now that I think about. I have no php knowledge whatsoever. What do you mean test?

I deleted all the files I made, because I was going to start over, and since my site was under maintenance, I thought it was my fault it wasnt working and I freaked and deleted everything. Out of all those different instruction methods which one should I follow?

OKay, do this... create a file named .htaccess in the root directory of your domain with the following in it:

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^test_rewrite$ http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=24418 [R=301,L]
    Code (markup):
If .htaccess/mod_rewrite works, you should be able to go to http://www.astralis-horoscopes.com/test_rewrite and end up at this thread.

Am I supposed to be able to just click on the link in your post, and be redirected to this thread?

I am in queue with the live chat support because I could not get that to work, and it states very clearly that I am supposed to be able to, and there is an example of how test it, which looks exactly like what you just told me to do. So, I have 3 more minutes to wait until I can ask why it's not redirecting. Im sure its something I set incorrectly. I realy appreciate you helping me out. While I have this chat queue open my cursor keeps jumping around, so it took forever to type this lol Its globat.com who hosts my site, if that helps at all.
