To my knowledge, the .htm format is for compatibility with old, old systems (pre Win95, I believe). I don't think it makes any difference which format you save it in.
the end part does not matter I opt for .html but for no significant reason, just make sure on links that you type the right suffix or the page wont be recognized.
It doesn't matter. I choose to do mine with .html but I don't have a reason behind it. Guess if your being nit-picky about it then you should go for .htm as it's 1 character shorter, thus one character less in any document that links to it, but thats just if your anal about that kind of stuff.
As others have said, it doesnt matter, htm is one character lower but html is what more people type. The difference comes from the original restriction on the length of file name extensions, this has been removed from all but the oldest systems but some traditions die hard
I would go for .html since they are more commonly used. For casual surfers, .html comes to mind compared to .htm.
Tho htm is a char less then html i`ll choose HTML because its on the web from the beginning and every1 knows about it. But i think the best way is to cut out the file extensions (.htm, .html, .php, ..and so on) and make use of the mod_rewrite and create human readable links.
html all the way Make sure,,, what ever you use... that you stick to that suffix throughout your site.
both are equal but in some old OS like DOS which donot accept an extension more than 3 char . I allways use .html and recommend others also this Regards Alex
