Dear Fellow WebMasters The Story: currently the site i work on is programmed in php and is on as far as i am aware an apache server. now the host is based in germany which causes so issues with locatity search reuslts for the uk but hey sucj is life. Now my site was ranked well in G,Y and Msn but there was a conflict with my site map as this had a .htacces rewrite that changed the .php dynamic urls to user frinedly .html url's but i was getting stung with a duplicate content wrap in google. I changed this using a 301 permanent redierct in my .htaccess file and has seen great progress in the serps having done so. NOW FOR THE PROBLEM: the powers that be in the office have arranged the site and database to move from germen host to a UK based host. - first of the problems but not a biggie. the big problem is: old database and site is php and mysql new database and site is aspx and sequel server so ALL MY URL's will need to change, aparently windows servers dont support 301 .htacces redirect and someone mentioned the word SERVER.TRANSFER does anyone know what this is, does it work, is there any other way that i can make this migration as smooth as possible without damaging my seo positions, i say this as modestly i'm doing really really well with over 200 pages appearing across the board for Google Yahoo and MSN for both generic and specific keywords. this is really bugging me and in an open sourse kinda guy not really a microsoft monkey. Please help if you can or it'll take another year to recover the lost seo positions. thanks Ya'll
Hey MaxPowers whats "isapi_rewrite" how does it work and is it SE friendly? I think the most important thing I'd like to do with this is to transfer the site with looking like I'm spamming the search engines. is this isapi_rewrite like the 301 redirect?
