.htaccess -uploading multiple changes at one time

I want to upload multiple redirects using my .htaccess.
Is it best to upload one change at a time or can the server cope with say ten redirects at one upload?
No explosions needed right now, so thought I had better ask the experts.

 

Server can handle 10 redirects, no problem.

I bit the bullet and put five at a time.
No problems encountered.

Not smart, though, because you may have trouble tracking down an error. I've uploaded mod_rewrite with an error and locked myself out of my entire account by accident.
No problem if you're sure of your code, but this can happen.
