Alright I am running an HTML site and I am using Dreamweaver, for some reason I can seem to get the .htaccess to work I made a new file and put this in it:

    AddType application/x-httpd-php .php .htm .html

And when I uploaded it onto my site I got an error with the page, when I removed it everything was fine again. Does it have to have an .htm ending to it? (ie: .htaccess.htm)
This is very confusing and I appreciate all help, my website is www.nothingandeverything.org if that helps figure out the problem

Are you trying to edit the .htaccess with dreamweaver? It might be adding more codes to it.

Also, are you naming the .htaccess before you upload it? Windows would not allow me to do that, so I had to upload it and then rename it with my FTP.

Don't use dreamweaver. Use a text program.
