To avoid scams you can use escrow, it's good for this kind of procedures.

 

If its with godady they have a domain ownership transfer feature you will need the new owners account number and email I believe, then they need to accept ownership.

 

also you can use well known service - SEDO - where a lot of buyers and sellers of domains.

 

i realy don't know, but i heard that u can't sell domain with good price... i realy don't know...
