Howto buy domainnames?

    Hey guys,

    I have a website named www.business-web.org where users can create their online business without having technical knowledge about HTML etc. BW is a free service atm but I am adding premium account features where no ads will be displayed, etc. I'm also adding the ability to add a domainname to the account.

    I have currently hosted the main website at one.com at 1.5usd a month (very cheap, I know :) ). one.com fits perfectly at this moment since the main website isn't a heavy site. However, One.com does not allow more than 1 domain per account, and I think it is way too expensive to set a one.com account for every user.

    What would be the best solution for this? A resellerpackage at Hostgator perhaps? And how do I register these domains for my clients? How does it work? Do I need their autograph before I register the domain on their name and link it to my 'reseller' account? I have never really registered an account, the only thing I ever did was approving the fact that One.com registered it on my name. I basically take over their work.

    Thx in advance!

    you can pick up a reseller hosting account from hostgator or somewhere else...but if you want reliability and good support, hostgator is good. check for reviews in my sig.

    For domains, bulk registrations are charged lesser. Look for coupon codes at dncoupons.com

    Registerfly is cheap but not recommended for domains.

    thx agnivo007 for the info about HG.
    Isn't there anyone out here with reseller experience? How does it work? If I get a client interesting in www.asdkfhskdhfklsah.com , how can I register the domain for him? I think it is not fair to register it under my name. Do I need his signature or something?

    If you are a webhoster, what steps do you take in order to complete the domain transaction?

    Check out the Dotster domain reseller program: dotster.com/reseller/overview

    If you're interested, just give them a call. Their sales people are super helpful. They have hosting solutions, too. Their prices look high on the site, but if you become a reseller you can get domains for the same price as anywhere else. Just tell them you'll buy from them if you can pay $7.99 (or whatever), and they'll probably give them to you. That's been my experience, anyway. Awesome company to work with.

    Ok, I'm aware that I should become a reseller in order for me to host my clients' websites. However, what are the activites I should participate in after I've become a reseller? For instance;

    A client orders a premium account at business-web.org and requests www.adsfkjhkasdhlk.com what steps do I need to follow in order to register that domain on the name of the client?

    thx in advance!

    for a domain reseller account you should check resellerclub (Directi reseller service). You get good prices and you can have your own resellers. You have your own branded application as well as an API (for example your clients get an online account with your name on it and you then credit their account as you wish - or even register the domain for them)... I think is one of the best reseller program for domains.

    So I need to get a reseller account and when my clients request a domain I can simply set it on there name and set it to my webspace. Is this a difficult process?

    no it is not very difficult, you can do it via an web interface, your clients can do it (if you credit their account or you enable them to buy directly via the interface - you can set your own prices btw) or you can program you own application that register the domains... :)
