How's your spelling?

I'm wondering if anyone is having the same problem as me? My spelling is usually very good, or I should say, it used to be very good.

I was even quite happy switching between UK and US spellings of various words, using a "z" and not an "s" - that sort of thing, without really thinking about it and my overall spelling was excellent.

Here's my problem - there are so many spelling mistakes, both here in DP and elsewhere on the internet, that my spelling is going to sh*t! I find myself mis-spelling words and having to check.

I blame all of the people who don't know how to use a spell-checker and put inadvertent mis-spellings of words on the 'net (I'm not talking about deliberate, traffic-scoring). :p

That's a real problem here, not because of internet word mispellings but because of sms messages, many students use these sms languages in exams (was in the SC exams report)

My spelling is not that good neither is my sentence construction because I get confused between Portuguese and English. Sometimes I’ll be talking Portuguese and end up using English words without even noticing it.

My spelling has always been adequate, but not brilliant. Because of this I find I'm doubting myself quite a lot, when I see spellings that don't look quite right. I now have a dictionary close at hand for reassurance.
