Very good start...simple, straight-forward.
However, it's hard to tell whether or not it's meeting your goals, or those of your readers...
with only three posts and no subtitle (John's Blog is as descriptive as it gets),
visitors aren't clued in to what the intent, theme, purpose of the posts are meant to be.

Your writing is smart, conversational and informative.
An you can lose the self deprecating remarks, they do no justice to your talent.
